REACTIVE DYES

Reactive dye is a type of textile dye that allows for greater fastness properties due to a reaction with the substrate it is applied on. Reactive dyes have proven to be one of the most successful classes of modern synthetic dyes. The reasons for this success lie in their shade versatility, their flexibility in application and the all-round good fastness properties obtained from dyeing produced with reactive dyes on wool, silk, cotton and regenerated cellulosic fibres.
Features of Reactive dyes –
⦁ Reactive dyes are synthetic dyes made in powder, print paste and liquid forms.
⦁ Reactive dyes are economical, require low temperature, and less time for dyeing.
⦁ Reactive dyes are anionic dyes that are soluble in water.
⦁ Reactive dyes are easy to apply and have good light fastness, perspiration fastness and excellent wash fastness.
⦁ Resistant to degradation caused by Ultraviolet rays

Uses of Reactive dyes –
⦁ Reactive dyes are used for discharge printing and cellulose fibre printing.
⦁ Reactive dyes are mainly used for wool, polyester/stick blended fabric and polyamide fibre fabrics dyeing and printing.
⦁ Reactive dyes are used in knot, viscose, and their blended fabric dyeing and printing.
